Bio

Hello, I am Cristiano Montanari (Modena, 1985), a lifelong lover of all that is fiction, from fantasy and horror novels to manga to MMOs. I completed my PhD in history of art at the University of Edinburgh in 2014, focusing on the relationship between digital museums and labor. I voraciously read pretty much all the time, and currently work at a Bakery outside Modena!

In parallel with my interest in contemporary art, I have developed a decade ago or so a keen interest in Japanese popular media, with a special love for all that is dōjin. My favorite Tv show is At Home with Venetia in Kyoto, my favorite  dōjinka is Heikinritsu, my favorite Japanese author is NisioIsin followed closely by Edogawa Rampo, and my favorite manga is probably Aria. I don't watch much anime and don't follow figures / cosplay at all.

I translate from Italian to English a variety of Japan-themed articles for NipPop, and am a budding but nonetheless published author - for the full updated list please see here. Please note that I am but a humble N4, so mistakes in my Japanese are to be expected and, if you feel like it, politely corrected.
